ETHICS OF THE EARLY BIRD BY MISHA B. LUCIEN

Ethics of the Early Bird by myself articulates my upbringing which has molded and shaped me into the thinker and writer I am today. After my grandmother's passing, it has allowed me to see all the ways I've lived my life through the lens of hers. This essay pays tribute to my grandmother before and after her passing as well as art in the life to come. I refer to her as "g-mother" in this essay because she always felt more of a second mother than the mother of my mother. I hope this essay will inspire those reading to discover the ways in which their childhood has been deeply rooted in their identity and voice and invoke the value of finding their own. The bird in this essay, is that of a dove which represents the Holy Spirit's guidance in both my grandmothers life and my own. Just like the God of the Bible, my grandmother rose early to meet with her Heavenly Father. This is the Ethics of the Early Bird.
